In lieu of dusty whole class novels, giant packets, or the stacks of composition books that go with lit circles, Mrs. Gilliland engaged her students in book clubs using a variety of free tech tools. Students were able to self-select texts, give multimodal responses, and continue their discussions outside of the classroom, without losing accountability. This workshop will provide an overview of worked, and what did not. Participants will see examples of student work and be able experience for themselves how Flipgrid and G Suite for Education can be used to facilitate individualized, high quality student discussions.
